Social media for AI agents: what your agent needs

Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini write a post in seconds. Getting it onto Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn in the right format, at the right time, without handing over your passwords, takes a tool built for agents. This is what that tool has to do, and how to tell.

What “social media for AI agents” means

Your AI agent does the social media work through a tool that holds your accounts. You ask in the chat, and the agent drafts, schedules, publishes and reports in that tool, the way you would in its app. The standard that connects the two is the Model Context Protocol (MCP): the tool offers a list of actions, and any agent that speaks MCP can call them.

SPREVA is one of these tools, and it goes past posting: your agent can make the video too, keep it editable in Studio and publish it to 31 networks. See it at work.

What an agent needs to run your social media

Writing the caption is the easy part. These are the parts an agent cannot do on its own:

  • Your accounts, without your passwords. The tool connects to each network through that network's official sign-in and keeps the access. The agent asks the tool to post and never sees a password or a token.
  • Each network's rules. A caption over 280 weighted characters on X, a fifth image on Bluesky, a video on a Google Business Profile update: each one is refused by the network. The tool should catch it before the post is sent, not after it fails.
  • Your pictures and videos, by name. The agent should find “the photo of the new menu” in your library, not ask you for a file id.
  • A way to make and change video. Short video is most of what gets seen. An agent that can only post text and images leaves the biggest job to you.
  • Your yes before anything public. Publishing now, deleting a published post or spending money should wait for your answer, and the tool, not the agent, should be what enforces it.
  • An honest answer when a network fails. If one of five accounts refuses the post, the other four keep it and only the fifth is retried.
  • The numbers afterwards. Reach and engagement per post and per account, so you can ask what worked.

A checklist to judge any tool

Ask these questions of any tool you think of connecting to your agent, SPREVA included:

QuestionWhy it matters
Does the agent ever see my passwords or access tokens? It should not. The access stays in the tool, and disconnecting the agent ends it.
Can the agent find things by name? You say “the launch post” or “the photo of the bag”. An agent that needs ids makes you do the looking up.
Are each network's rules checked before sending?A post refused when it was due is a missed post.
Can the agent make a video, and change it later?A video that is a flat file has to be made again for every change. An editable project changes one scene and keeps the rest.
Who decides what the agent may do without me?The tool should enforce it on its own servers, whatever the agent's app does.
What happens when one network fails?Only the account that failed should be retried, never the ones that already have the post.
Does it reach every network I use?Check that yours are on the list.
Does it work with the agent I already use?Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini each connect in their own way, and some need a paid plan.

How it works in SPREVA

Any agent that speaks MCP connects with one address, in about a minute:

  1. 1

    Copy the SPREVA connector address:

    URL
    https://dev-app.spreva.ai/api/mcp
  2. 2

Add it where your agent takes connectors: Customize, then Connectors in Claude, developer mode in ChatGPT, one command in Claude Code. Your agent's page has the exact steps.

  3. 3

Sign in to SPREVA, choose the workspace and click Allow. Then ask for something real:

Ask your agent
Make a 20 second vertical video from this week's photos and schedule it for Friday at 9 on Instagram and TikTok.

What agents still do not do well

  • Judge taste. An agent makes a good first cut, but whether it sounds like you is still your call, which is why SPREVA keeps every video editable.
  • Answer your community. SPREVA does not read or answer comments and messages: they stay in each network's own app.
  • Work on any plan. ChatGPT needs a plan with developer mode, and the Gemini app takes custom apps only for personal accounts in the United States.
  • Post to a personal Instagram account. Instagram lets apps publish only to professional accounts, whatever the tool.

Questions

Which AI agents can manage social media?

Any agent that can use MCP tools: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and more. SPREVA has step-by-step setup pages for 17 of them. See every agent.

Is it safe to let an AI agent post for me?

It is when the tool, not the agent, holds the access and decides what needs your yes. In SPREVA, publishing right away and spending AI credits ask you first unless you change it, and every action is on record. How SPREVA keeps you in control.

Is there a free way to do this?

SPREVA has no free plan: every plan starts with a 7-day trial and includes MCP.

Can an AI agent make videos for social media?

Yes, with a tool that gives it video tools. In SPREVA your agent can turn photos into a narrated video, cut clips from a long one, change any scene by name and export it, on the Pro and Business plans.

Can ChatGPT post directly to Instagram?

Not by itself. Connected to SPREVA through developer mode, ChatGPT can write, schedule and publish Instagram posts, Reels and Stories on a professional account. How it works.
